Kurt Arrigo has been passionate about the sea from birth. Born on the captivating Mediterranean island of Malta he counts diving, sailing and swimming among his foremost passions.
Fittingly, a significant part of Kurt’s career as a photographer has been engaged in the water. His expertise in underwater photography techniques has pushed boundaries in the field, inspiring work that has seen him capture subjects as diverse as graceful horses, state-of-the-art multi-million-dollar racing boats and conservation projects aimed at promoting the protection of underwater life and the preservation of our seas.
Kurt’s career in professional sailing photography began when he was assigned to the 1992 America’s Cup. Kurt has been an official yachting photographer for over a decade providing iconic moments from international classics like the Rolex Sydney Hobart and the Rolex Fastnet from both the air and the water. His work has also been recognised at the prestigious 1995 Underwater World Championships of Photography held in the Red Sea, and in the Communications Arts Photography Annual 1997. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Yacht Racing Image of the Year, prevailing in a high-class international competition.

After studying and graduating as a Graphic Designer, with special emphasis on photography, arts and design, Rene chose to specialise in photography.
Rene is well known to be a very creative photographer. His work and his hunger for exclusivity have taken him to hot war zones around the world, and his talent is much appreciated in his weddings’ shots, as well as covering ‘red carpet’ world class activities.
In recent years, Rene’ has felt the urge to visit war zones and capture unique images of human suffering and the ravages of war-torn nations. He has been to Gaza during the Hamas rule and witnessed bombing by Israeli fighters and the effect on poor farmers and their families. He was also the first Maltese photographer to visit Libya and during the spring uprising and was hailed by the freedom fighters for promoting their cause through his work. He also was present during the street demonstrations in Egypt before Mubarak was overthrown and particularly in Tahrir Square where he captured some memorable images which were published in many countries.
Rene prides himself in that he does not resort to any trick photography to bring out special effects in his pictures, but achieves this purely by bringing the best out of his equipment, in which he is continuously investing.
